Catalog Resource Form
The resource form for defining reusable delivery roles or resource types.
Use this form to create a clean record the first time or safely update an existing one without guessing which field drives downstream behavior.
Put it into practice

Start with duplicate prevention: search existing resources first and confirm naming conventions.

What to review
Page header and breadcrumb
Confirms whether you are creating or editing, gives you the back path, and is the quickest way to avoid updating the wrong record.
Primary form sections
The form is grouped so you can complete one block at a time instead of hunting for every field in a single long screen.
Required inputs and field labels
Every required label tells you what must exist before the record can be saved; blank or invalid values should be corrected before moving on.
Validation and inline errors
Use these messages as instructions, not warnings to dismiss. They tell you exactly which field blocks save and why.
Primary save action
Commits the record only after the form validates. Use it after reviewing every section because it is the action that changes workspace data.
Cancel or return action
Leaves the form and takes you back without finishing the workflow. Use it when you opened the wrong record or need to check related data first.
Resource Name and Resource Type
Resource Name is what estimate builders pick, and Resource Type (for example consultant, developer) groups similar roles.
Classification (Internal / External)
Classification marks the resource Internal or External, which affects how cost and capacity are interpreted in planning.
Capacity Defaults (weekly hours, leave, non-billable %, target utilisation %)
Capacity Defaults (Weekly hours, Planned leave days, Non-billable %, Target utilisation %) feed the Capacity-to-Revenue Planner and utilisation views.
Linked User
Linked User optionally ties the resource to a workspace user so that user can only log time against projects they are assigned to and tasks they are resourced on.
Apply Rates To Offerings
Apply Rates To Offerings lets you set one Cost per Unit across selected offerings, with Specific Rate Overrides for offerings that need a different cost, so you can seed the resource's rates while creating it.
Guardrails
- Resource Name and Resource Type are required, and capacity percentages must be within 0-100 before save.
- Rates applied here become the resource's cost basis in estimates, so confirm Cost per Unit is correct before saving.
- Linking a user restricts that user's time logging, so only link when that scoping is intended.
- Only users with the manage-catalog permission should change reusable resource definitions.
If it starts drifting
- If a new resource shows no cost in estimates, add its per-offering rates on the Resources & Rates tab or via Apply Rates To Offerings.
- If a linked user cannot log time where expected, confirm they are assigned to the project and resourced on the task.
- If the resource does not appear in a resource selector, verify you saved a resource and not just a rate.
