Detailed guide

Timesheet View

The week-at-a-glance grid for logging and editing day-by-day delivery effort, with per-project rows, an inline timer, and manager team views.

The timesheet view is optimised for weekly entry and correction. It is the fastest place to log and fix day-by-day time, and it shows how the week splits across billable, pending, approved, and invoiced states.

Quick summary

  • Log a day's work with the Log Time modal.
  • Run the inline timer while working, then stop it to capture hours.
  • Correct an existing row's hours or attribution.
  • As a manager, review one team member's week.

Put it into practice

  1. Start by selecting the correct week before editing rows. This prevents misplaced entries and avoids repairing the wrong period.

InteractionsTimesheet View header: use week or period controls to set the intended date window.
  2. Review existing rows for project, task, and hours patterns before adding new entries. Correct obvious attribution errors first so weekly totals reflect the real delivery story.

InteractionsTimesheet grid: scan existing rows and open row edit actions where values are wrong.
  3. Use Add Row for truly missing work and complete project/task/date/hours with precise values. Avoid placeholders that will require rework during approval or invoicing.

InteractionsTimesheet View: click Add Row, complete required fields, and save.
    Open workflow: Time Entry Form
  4. Edit only the incorrect fields on existing rows so audit clarity stays intact. Keep notes concise when changes affect billing evidence.

InteractionsTimesheet row actions: open Edit Row modal and update minimal required fields.
    Open workflow: Time Entry Form
  5. After saves, re-check weekly totals and status mix to confirm the corrections changed the intended records and period.

InteractionsTimesheet grid and summary area: verify updated rows and total hours for the selected week.
  6. If billing readiness depends on this week, pivot to project-level time review and then invoice workflow to confirm linked evidence is now complete.

InteractionsAfter timesheet corrections, open Project Time Entries and related invoice review for affected projects.
    Open workflow: Project Time Entries

Log Time modal

Opened to add a row: Resource (managers), Project (required), Task (populated after project), a green allocation hint, Date (required, defaults today), Hours (required, placeholder 'e.g. 2:30 or 2.5'), and Notes; footer buttons Cancel and 'Save time'.

See guide: Time Entry Form

Edit row modal

Opened from a row's Edit link; shows the row and entity details, a 'View in All Entries' link, and a Close button.

Guardrails

  • Hours (accepting formats like 2:30 or 2.5), project selection, and any required task context must validate before the row saves.
  • Day cells that are already approved or invoiced are locked and cannot be edited inline; correct them through the proper workflow instead.
  • The green allocation hint is guidance, not a hard cap — logging beyond the suggested hours is allowed but should be deliberate.
  • Project and task choices can be permission-scoped, especially for non-managers.
  • Only managers get the resource selector and can log or review time on behalf of other resources.

If it starts drifting

  • If the project you need is absent, confirm you are assigned to it or have broader time-management permission.
  • If a cell will not accept edits, it is likely approved or invoiced and therefore locked.
  • If the timer will not stop as expected, use the Edit link to correct the row's hours directly.
